Rumi: Sorrow

Dear God! I am weak and helpless. Grant me the strength to do all that pleases You. Help me to do good eagerly. Make faith my goal. I am humble and disgraced, so grant me honour and glory. I am needy, so bless me with sustenance.

Dear God! Purify my heart of hypocrisy,
my actions of pretence, my tongue of lies, and my eyes of deception. For You know well the deception of the eye and all that is concealed in the heart.

Dear God! Remove from my heart all ill-feeling and protect me until my death from the lures of those who would misguide me.

Dear God! Forgive my sins, both inadvertent and deliberate.

You know why I am happy: It is because I seek Your company, not through my own efforts.

I have found nothing in all the worlds That could match Your love
